After 18 years in the bakery business, and 8 years as a sucessful sales professional for a Fortune 500 company, I have explored the North Olmsted/Fairview Park area where I have found only one local, family owned retail outlet for bakery and donuts. I began contacting business to ascertain where they obtained bakery for catering. Most were frustrated with the lack of local resources to provide a quality product that was not from a national chain, and most were unhappy with their current suppliers and the overall presentation of the product. Several businesses in the area complained that the "bakery" as they remember it had disappeared from the area. Corporate bakeries offer little in the way of variety and sell products that are full of preservatives and are not made "from scratch". When asked whether they would prefer a national chain or a family owned business, all of them indicated they would prefer a family-owned shop for the same three reasons: A more unique product variety, a commitment to quality, and excellent customer service that is normally associated with a family-owned business. In a matter of just a few months, I began to formulate a plan for my donuts and bakery. Beckers Donuts and Bakery is a retail store that offers homemade, orignal recipe donuts and a wide variety of baked goods that consist of many authentic, ethnic recipes. The business is owned by Tommy A Becker and is located on Lorain road in the heart of Fairview Park, Ohio. Our goal is to provide our community with a unique variety of bakery goods that are made fresh daily from scratch using the delcious Becker Family recipes that have provided the original, ethnic taste from years past. We aim to provide outstanding customer service that has been our family tradition since 1957. Beckers Donuts and Bakery is not a "new" business by any stretch of the imagination. The roots go back to 1946 when the family opened a restuarant named Becker Brothers. Because of the high-demand for there original recipe donuts served at breakfast, brothers Bill, Louie, Joe and Alex decided to enter the donuts business. Brothers Bob and Rudy joined them in the 1950's to bring the total Cleveland area shops to 13. One of the largest donut shop chains in the city at the time. Robert Becker (Tommy's Father) operated his store in Fairview Park from 1957 to 1988, and is now re-opened at the same location under Tommy's ownership.
